Quentin Tarantino and Kylie Minogue were spotted filming scenes for a new movie in the Welsh town of Porthcawl and nearby Cardiff earlier this week. The director and the singer were seen together at various locations, including a local restaurant, Newton church in Porthcawl, and the Saltwater Inn during funeral and wake scenes. Both also appeared outside the National Museum Wales in Cardiff as part of the production.
The film, titled *Tangled Up In Blue*, is directed by Welsh independent filmmaker Jamie Adams, known for his improvisational approach. This project marks a reunion between Adams and Tarantino, who acted last year in Adams’s film *Only What We Carry*, which was shot in Deauville, France. In that film, Tarantino played a wealthy benefactor, a role he accepted after Adams sent him a direct pitch detailing the story and his belief in Tarantino’s abilities as an actor.
Local reports noted that members of Porthcawl’s male voice choir were recruited as extras during filming. Welsh actress Karen Paullada, involved in the production, expressed her enthusiasm for working alongside Welsh performers and described the experience on social media as one involving “other legends.”
Fans also spotted Tarantino at the Parkgate Hotel in Cardiff, where he was observed quietly reading. One visitor, Helen Harvey from Swindon, recognized him and approached to express her admiration. She described the director as “gracious and charming” in response.
Tarantino, 63, recently relocated to the UK as he prepares to debut as a theatre writer and director with a new play titled *The Popinjay Cavalier*. The production is a swashbuckling comedy set in 1830s Europe and represents his first foray into theatre.
The presence of Tarantino and Minogue in Wales attracted attention not simply for the star power but also for the local connection through Adams’s filmmaking, highlighting the growing collaboration between established international figures and regional artists in independent cinema.
