Luke Littler’s bid to win every PDC Major title in a single year came to an end after he was defeated 10-4 by Jonny Clayton in the quarter-finals of the World Series of Darts on Sunday. The loss marked Littler’s first defeat in a televised major event in 330 days.

The 19-year-old, currently ranked world number one, had previously secured victories in the World Championship, Masters, UK Open, Premier League, and World Matchplay this year. His hopes of completing a clean sweep of all major titles within the calendar year were dashed by Clayton’s performance.

Following the match, Littler expressed his disappointment but also pride in his achievements on social media, stating that while he was “gutted” the run had ended, he was proud of the feat and acknowledged the difficulty of the challenge.

Glen Durrant, a former BDO world champion, also commented on the feat, describing it as “the impossible task” to maintain an undefeated streak through all major competitions throughout the season.

Littler’s near-flawless run highlights his rapid rise in the sport at a young age, setting a high benchmark for competitive darts moving forward. The World Series continues to be a key platform for top-level players to contest major titles and rankings.
