LuLu Group is set to open a new hypermarket in Al Shahama, Abu Dhabi, by the UAE National Day in 2027. The 210,000-square-foot store will be among the largest in the area, reflecting the company’s strategy to bring retail closer to emerging suburban communities rather than relying on customers traveling to city-center locations.

The agreement was finalized at Beach Rotana Abu Dhabi in a ceremony attended by Sheikh Suroor Bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, owner of Maqam International Holding Company, and Yusuff Ali M.A., chairman of LuLu Group. The hypermarket will be developed by SUNAD Real Estate Management, a subsidiary of Maqam, and will serve residents in Al Shahama, Al Bahia, Yas Island, and neighboring areas.

Rapid urban expansion in Abu Dhabi has driven demand for retail facilities in new residential hubs. Al Bahia, a nearby neighborhood set to accommodate approximately 1,500 new homes, exemplifies the type of growing suburban community the LuLu Group aims to support with its new store. The hypermarket’s location near a highway is designed to offer easy access and ample parking to residents of villa communities and passing motorists alike.

Inside the store, customers can expect a wide range of products, including fresh food, international groceries, household essentials, electronics, fashion, and lifestyle items. The new hypermarket will be integrated into a broader development project initiated by Maqam Holding that includes extensive housing and retail components in Al Shahama.

Yusuff Ali summarized the company’s approach concisely: to provide good quality, reasonable prices, reliable service, and convenient parking. This expansion highlights LuLu Group’s response to Abu Dhabi’s evolving urban landscape, prioritizing accessibility for residents of new suburbs and reinforcing its presence outside traditional city-center locations.
