Brighton midfielder Alexis Mac Allister has expressed disappointment after learning the club is not currently prepared to offer him a new contract, though he remains committed to giving his best for the team.

Mac Allister revealed that during the summer transfer window, there was a possibility of him leaving the club, with Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid—Brighton’s upcoming Champions League opponents—among the potential destinations. However, he said his agent informed him that Brighton was not in a position to extend his contract, a development he described as “very, very sad.”

Reflecting on his time at the club, Mac Allister highlighted the achievements and challenges he has experienced, including winning the Premier League and enduring difficult periods. “We won the Premier League together and went through difficult times as well,” he said. “I always give my best.” He also noted the contract renewals of teammates Dominik and Ryan, expressing happiness for them but also acknowledging his own disappointment at not receiving the same offer.

Despite the contract uncertainty, Mac Allister assured fans of his full commitment. “The fans don’t need to worry because I will give my 100 per cent until the last day I am here,” he stated. When asked if there might be future changes regarding his contract situation, he remained uncertain but expressed hope it could evolve. “Maybe, I don’t know. It is going to depend on how I perform during these years.”

The player emphasized his consistency and contributions during his three years at Brighton, saying he does not feel the need to prove anything further but recognizes the importance of maintaining high-level performances. He praised the club and the city, highlighting his affection for both: “I know very well this is an amazing club and this city has something very special. I love being here.”

Brighton manager Andoni Iraola, when asked about Mac Allister’s contract discussions, indicated that no talks had taken place. He emphasized his role in supporting all players and aiding their performance on the pitch. “I hope I can improve my players so I can help them win games,” Iraola said. Speaking about Mac Allister specifically, he added, “I’m very happy with Alexis and his performances.”

As Brighton prepares to face Atletico Madrid in the Champions League, Mac Allister’s future remains uncertain, but his focus appears to remain firmly on contributing to the team’s success.
