The first significant opportunity arrived in the 12th minute when Macclesfield’s Sam Heathcote fired a low shot wide of the target. Redcar responded immediately, with Curtis Round attempting a delicate chip over Macclesfield’s goalkeeper Christian Dibble inside the penalty area, but Dibble managed to catch the effort. Macclesfield remained on the attack, and in the 15th minute Danny Elliott curled a shot narrowly off target after cutting in from the left.

Redcar Athletic earned a free kick on the 29th minute after Boyes was fouled by Heathcote just outside the box. Oscar Fletcher took the set piece, delivering a low shot aimed at the bottom corner, which Dibble initially struggled to hold but ultimately kept out the danger.

The decisive moment came in the 37th minute when Macclesfield took the lead. Ammar Dyer delivered a well-placed cross to the back post, where Danny Elliott rose above the defenders to head the ball into the net. Elliott came close to doubling the lead just before halftime, but his attempt from inside the box went just wide of the post.
