Bob MacIntyre carded a six-under-par 66 in the third round of the BMW PGA Championship on Saturday, moving into contention at Wentworth despite expressing frustration with his iron play.

The Scottish golfer, who stands at 10-under overall, is three shots behind the current leader as the tournament progresses. MacIntyre attributed his strong round largely to his putting, which compensated for inconsistencies with his iron shots.

“Thankfully, I can putt because I can’t hit an iron shot to save my life,” MacIntyre said after completing his round. He described the quality of some of his shots as erratic, noting that while he managed several exceptional strikes, he also hit some of his worst shots of the event.

“It’s very stressful. Three of the 9-irons that I hit out there were just atrocious, horrific,” he added, highlighting the challenges he faced with his mid-range irons during the round.

Despite these difficulties, MacIntyre’s overall performance kept him within striking distance of the lead as the BMW PGA Championship moves into its final stages.
