Mada Assistive Technology Centre has conducted two specialised workshops aimed at improving digital accessibility and skills among older adults in Qatar. The sessions, held in partnership with the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Public Health, were part of the “Our Summer is a Blessing” programme, organised by the Ehsan Centre for Empowerment and Care of the Elderly.

Each workshop engaged 23 female participants, focusing on equipping them with practical knowledge to use key government and healthcare digital services independently and securely. The first workshop, conducted with the Ministry of Interior, introduced the “Metrash” application—a government platform providing access to various public services. Training included hands-on guidance on downloading the app, activating user accounts, and completing essential transactions, with an emphasis on digital literacy, cybersecurity, and personal data protection.

The second workshop, delivered in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Health, focused on the “Labbeh” healthcare application. Participants learned how to navigate the app’s features, enabling them to manage their healthcare needs digitally. The sessions sought to build confidence in using health-related digital tools safely and effectively, supporting participants’ autonomy and well-being.

Al Anood Al Ansari, head of the Capacity Building Section at Mada Assistive Technology Centre, highlighted the centre’s commitment to fostering universal accessibility through knowledge and skill development. She emphasised the importance of hands-on training that translates directly into practical ability, as well as the value of partnerships with national institutions in expanding the reach and sustainability of such initiatives.

These workshops underscore Mada Centre’s ongoing role in promoting digital inclusion among older persons and those with disabilities, aligning with Qatar’s broader digital transformation goals. By enhancing digital competency and access, the centre aims to improve participants’ quality of life and contribute to a more inclusive society, consistent with the objectives outlined in Qatar National Vision 2030.
