Madonna’s latest album, *Confessions II*, is poised to become her first number-one release since 2012, having sold nearly 30,000 copies within the first 24 hours of its release on Friday. This initial sales figure is three times higher than that of her closest competitor, Sienna Spiro, whose debut album *Visitor* entered the market at a slower pace.
If *Confessions II* reaches the top position on the charts, it will mark Madonna’s 13th number-one album, tying her with Elvis Presley for the most in chart history. The milestone would place her just behind Taylor Swift, who has secured 14 number-one albums.
The album has received positive critical reviews, and the single “Danceteria” has also gained traction, climbing to number 20 on the singles chart. Madonna has actively promoted the record, including filming a BBC special with host Graham Norton last month and engaging with fans during a TikTok Live session earlier this week.
Earlier plans for Madonna to perform at London Pride on Saturday were ultimately withdrawn. She had been scheduled to appear at the event’s 7 p.m. stage slot; however, organizers had to adjust the lineup after she decided to pull out the day before, reportedly due to security concerns. Following a busy promotional week, sources suggest Madonna was likely seeking a day of rest.
*Confessions II* thus stands as a strong contender for commercial success in the current music landscape, reflecting both Madonna’s enduring appeal and competitive positioning among prominent contemporary artists.
