A 40-year-old American woman and her partner have been charged following an incident at a London Underground station last year. Melissa Rein Lively faces one count of assault by beating, while her partner, Philipp Ostermann, 37, a German national, has been charged with two racially aggravated public order offences and an additional public order offence.
The charges stem from an altercation that occurred at Bond Street Underground station around 7:30 p.m. on October 11, according to British Transport Police. Rein Lively is known as a communications professional managing an “anti-woke” public relations firm and previously sought the position of White House spokesperson during former President Donald Trump’s second term. Ostermann serves as the associate director of Aequita, a private equity company headquartered in Munich with offices in South Carolina and Tokyo.
British Transport Police confirmed that the Crown Prosecution Service authorized the charging of the pair in connection with the incident. Authorities also issued a reminder to the media and public to avoid sharing any material that could potentially influence forthcoming court proceedings.
The defendants are scheduled to appear at Westminster magistrates’ court for their initial hearing on Tuesday. Further details surrounding the circumstances of the altercation have not been disclosed by law enforcement.
