Magway Region marked a significant milestone with the launch of a village electrification project under its Quick Win Plan, as electricity supply was officially introduced to Magyisan Village in Magway Township on Tuesday morning. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Chief Minister U Tin Ko Ko, Magway Region Hluttaw Speaker Dr Maung Maung Htay, regional ministers, departmental representatives, and local residents.
The event featured a formal ribbon-cutting and activation of the power switch, symbolizing the commencement of electricity service in the village. Following the inauguration, officials conducted an inspection of the electrical infrastructure and evaluated the initial performance of the power distribution system.
Chief Minister U Tin Ko Ko highlighted ongoing efforts to expand the region’s electrical grid by extending transmission lines and building substations to ensure a consistent and reliable power supply for all communities throughout Magway Region. He noted that since 2021, over 569,469 households—equivalent to 62.87 percent of the region’s total households—have gained access to electricity, reflecting significant progress in rural electrification initiatives.
The electrification of Magyisan Village represents a key step in the region’s broader development plan, aimed at improving living standards and supporting economic growth through enhanced infrastructure. Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to continuing investments in energy projects to reach the remaining households without access to electricity in the coming years.
