MUMBAI — Maharashtra’s Cabinet Sub-Committee on Industries, Energy, Mining and Labour, chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, has approved incentive packages for 18 large-scale projects valued at a combined ₹2.56 lakh crore. The initiatives, announced on Wednesday, are expected to generate over 100,000 direct and indirect jobs across various regions in the state.
The sub-committee, which includes Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Industries Minister Uday Samant, and Chief Secretary Rajesh Agrawal among others, focused on sectors such as solar technology, green steel, green ammonia, electronics, space and defense equipment, lithium-ion batteries, electric vehicles, as well as steel and gas-to-chemicals manufacturing.
The most significant investment commitment comes from Essar Exploration and Production Ltd, which plans to invest ₹56,852 crore in Raigad district, potentially creating 25,000 employment opportunities. Rashmi Metallurgical Industries will follow with a ₹40,000 crore investment in Gadchiroli, expected to generate 20,000 jobs.
Other notable projects include Virtuoso Compressors in Nashik with an ₹800 crore investment set to create 500 jobs, and Tembo Defence Products, allocating ₹1,000 crore in Amravati. Nidec Global Appliances India aims to invest ₹1,000 crore in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, with an estimated 1,000 jobs expected. Jabil Circuit India will channel ₹1,500 crore into Shirur, anticipated to provide 3,000 jobs, while Hariom Pipe Industries proposes a ₹3,135 crore investment in Gadchiroli, projected to create 8,000 jobs.
In Ahilyanagar, Nibe Space plans ₹4,000 crore investment with 1,000 jobs, and Eurobus India intends a ₹4,200 crore investment in Talegaon, Pune, generating 12,000 jobs. Million Steel’s ₹256.01 crore project in Chandrapur is expected to offer 360 jobs.
Several high-profile green energy projects received approval as well. ACME Cleantech Solutions will invest ₹37,800 crore in a green ammonia project spanning Raigad and Palghar, generating 4,500 jobs. The company also plans a green steel project valued at ₹11,000 crore with 2,500 jobs in the same region and an ₹11,400 crore green steel initiative in Butibori near Nagpur, which is projected to create 7,000 jobs. Godavari New Energy in Chandrapur is investing ₹27,515 crore with an expected 4,000 jobs, while Balasore Alloys’ ₹17,479 crore project in Raigad should add 3,200 jobs.
Other major projects include Globe Forge Ltd’s ₹15,430 crore investments across Ahilyanagar and Dharashiv, projected to create 3,600 jobs; Solar Defence and Aerospace Ltd’s ₹12,780 crore project in Nagpur with 6,825 jobs; and Ashok Leyland Ltd’s ₹10,000 crore investment in Bhandara, expected to generate 1,000 jobs.
The government emphasized that these incentives are part of Maharashtra’s ongoing efforts to attract investments in advanced technologies and sustainable industries, aiming to strengthen the state’s industrial base and provide significant employment opportunities.
