Maidstone United secured a last-minute 2-1 victory over Salisbury at the Gallagher Stadium on Saturday, completing a comeback in a match marked by two red cards for the visitors.

Salisbury initially took the lead after Morgan delivered a cross that found Jaiden Bartolo. His header struck the bar before Jordan Alonge headed the rebound into the net, putting the home side ahead. However, Maidstone responded just before halftime. George Fowler’s shot was blocked, but Riley Court capitalized on the rebound, sending the ball into the bottom corner and leveling the score.

The game took a turn early in the second half when Salisbury was reduced to ten men. Bartolo received a second yellow card for a foul on Maidstone’s Leo Hamblin, resulting in his dismissal in the 50th minute. The visitors’ numerical disadvantage deepened further in stoppage time when Yacou Traore was also shown a second yellow card.

Maidstone pressed for a winner, coming close in the 58th minute. Court’s corner was headed on by Fowler, allowing Ryan Hanson to strike the ball across goal. The effort hit the inside of the right post but did not find the net.

The decisive moment arrived in stoppage time. Following a long ball forward, Salisbury’s goalkeeper Will Henry advanced outside his penalty area but was unable to clear effectively. The ball fell to Hanson, who lofted a shot from around 25 yards into an open net, securing the victory for Maidstone.

The win marks an important result for Maidstone, rewarded by persistence and capitalizing on their opponents’ setbacks late in the game. Salisbury, despite an early advantage, were unable to hold their lead under increased pressure and the disadvantage caused by their two dismissals.
