A Pasadena man was arrested after allegedly striking his father with a vehicle while under the influence and fleeing the scene, authorities reported. The incident occurred earlier this month, resulting in the victim sustaining critical injuries.

Paramedics from the Pasadena Fire Department administered an emergency blood transfusion at the scene, marking the first use of a new program that allows first responders to provide blood directly to patients experiencing severe bleeding. The city council recently adopted this program to reduce delays in treatment and improve survival rates in trauma cases.

Following the emergency intervention, the injured man was transported to Huntington Hospital. Officials have not released details regarding his current condition.

The suspect, identified as Jack Modrzejewski, was arrested and booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, driving under the influence, and hit-and-run causing injury. He was released on bail on September 20. The Los Angeles County district attorney’s office is reviewing the case to determine potential charges.

Modrzejewski’s family has notable connections in local business and politics, including involvement in significant political campaigns and the organizing committee for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics. Authorities have not indicated whether these ties will impact the investigation.
