A 24-year-old man has been accused of sexually assaulting a disabled woman in Netrokona’s Purbadhala upazila on September 16. The victim, a 25-year-old woman who is both speech- and hearing-impaired, was reportedly attacked near her home while she was alone. She is a mother to an eight-month-old child and had been living with her father following a separation from her husband.

According to the complaint filed at Purbadhala Police Station by the victim’s father, the accused, identified as Abdul Awal, also known as Robin, allegedly took the woman into a room and raped her. Neighbors who witnessed the incident intervened, prompting the suspect to flee the scene.

Authorities have initiated a search for Awal, and the victim has been placed in police custody for her protection. She is scheduled to undergo a medical examination as part of the investigation. Police officials have stated their commitment to handling the case with seriousness and are continuing efforts to apprehend the accused.
