A 60-year-old man from Warner Springs, California, has been charged with mailing a threatening letter to a mosque in Riverside County that contained threats of mass violence against Muslims. Louis White was arrested by federal authorities on August 29 following an investigation into the letter sent to the Islamic Center of Temecula Valley, according to court documents and a Department of Justice statement.

The letter, received by the mosque on August 26, included explicit threats such as “I cannot wait for the day to kill every one of you, it cannot come soon enough.” It also featured a drawing depicting a bearded face in crosshairs with X’s over its eyes, alongside a curse directed at Allah. The threatening correspondence was traced to the San Bernardino Processing and Distribution Center in Redlands, suggesting it was mailed within San Bernardino or Riverside counties around July 30.

Following the mosque’s report, Riverside Sheriff’s Detective Pierce Roberts collaborated with U.S. Postal Inspector Gabriel Rodriguez to investigate the letter. Forensic analysis of the envelope uncovered a fingerprint matching White’s, leading to his subsequent arrest. Authorities also seized multiple firearms from White’s residence, including an AR-15 rifle without a serial number and a short-barreled rifle, as well as thousands of rounds of ammunition. They additionally recovered a baseball cap emblazoned with the phrase “Shoot your local terrorist.”

During questioning, White reportedly admitted to sending the threatening letter and expressed hostility toward Muslims. Examination of his phone revealed a Facebook account containing several anti-Muslim posts, including one stating, “Muslims need to be exterminated from the Earth.” According to the criminal complaint, White voiced concerns about Muslims “taking over America and killing Americans,” telling Detective Roberts, “What are you gonna do about it?” Roberts replied by asking White about his intended actions, to which White responded, “I can’t do anything now that you took my guns!”

White faces federal charges of mailing threatening communications. His arrest follows a recent mosque shooting in San Diego on May 18 that left five people dead, including two gunmen, underscoring heightened tensions and concerns over anti-Muslim threats in the region. Investigations into White’s case remain ongoing.
