A 34-year-old man appeared in court Monday charged with multiple offenses after a vehicle struck pedestrians in west London over the weekend. Ahmed Timir, from Ealing, allegedly drove a Seat Leon into a group of people at a pedestrian crossing in Ealing Broadway on Saturday afternoon, injuring five individuals.
The incident occurred at approximately 2:30 p.m. when Timir reportedly hit the pedestrians before fleeing the scene. Police apprehended him shortly afterward a short distance from the location. Timir, originally from Somalia and now a British citizen, appeared at Willesden Magistrates’ Court where he confirmed his identity but otherwise did not enter a plea.
He faces five counts of attempted murder along with charges of dangerous driving, failing to stop after an accident, failing to provide a breath specimen for analysis, and three counts of criminal damage.
Emergency services responded promptly, with three victims transported to hospitals and two treated at the scene. Injuries reported included broken facial bones and a fractured pelvis, though authorities noted none were life-threatening or life-altering.
Following preliminary investigations, London’s Counter Terrorism Policing confirmed they were involved but that there is no evidence linking the incident to terrorism. The Metropolitan Police continue their inquiries as the case proceeds through the legal system.
