A 42-year-old man has been charged with weapons offences following a suspected threat against an Islamic event in Suffolk last week. The individual, whose name has not been disclosed, was among 12 people arrested over the course of Sunday and Monday, July 12-13, in connection with the incident.
The man faces three charges, including two related to possession of offensive weapons, specifically extendable batons and a stun gun. He is scheduled to appear at Reading Magistrates’ Court.
Authorities detained eight of the 12 individuals under Section 41 of the Terrorism Act. The remaining four suspects were released on police bail. Of those arrested, seven were released from custody without charge on the day following the arrests. Investigations into the incident remain ongoing.
