A man from Margate, Kent, has discovered that his childhood best friend is actually his biological brother after more than six decades. Graham Hearsey, 60, grew up suspecting that his father, Joe, was not his biological parent due to his ginger hair, which contrasted with his family’s traits. Rumors had circulated that the father of his close friend, David Joyce, 59, might be his real father.

The revelation came in April 2026 when Hearsey, hospitalized with heart failure, decided to order a DNA test online. After reconnecting with Joyce, the two agreed to take cheek swab tests to determine their relationship. The results confirmed that they are brothers.

Hearsey, who works as a carer, described the moment of discovery, recalling that Joyce called him to say, “hello brother.” Both families have since embraced the news, with Hearsey noting that the acceptance has been positive for everyone involved.
