A land dispute in Ishnath Municipality-3, Rautahat, turned deadly on Tuesday evening when a confrontation resulted in one man’s death and another sustained injuries. The incident took place around 8:15 p.m. in Auraiya, involving members of the Sah family.

According to local police, the argument began between 80-year-old Ram Bahadur Sah and his 60-year-old son-in-law, Butan Sah, on one side, and 63-year-old Ram Autar Sah along with his 26-year-old son, Ram Maheshwar Sah, on the other. The disagreement escalated into a physical altercation.

During the clash, Ram Maheshwar Sah allegedly stabbed Butan Sah in the back. Butan Sah was immediately taken to the Provincial Hospital in Gaur, where he died at 9:05 p.m. while receiving medical treatment. Ram Bahadur Sah also sustained a head injury in the incident and is currently being treated at a local health facility; his condition has been described as stable.

Authorities responded promptly and arrested Ram Maheshwar Sah, identified as the suspected assailant, along with Ram Autar Sah in connection with the violent outbreak. The District Police Office in Rautahat confirmed that a formal investigation is underway to determine the full circumstances surrounding the dispute.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Basanta Gautam stated that the police remain committed to thoroughly examining the case as they continue their inquiry.
