A man has pleaded guilty in connection with the fatal shooting of a young girl whose name was notably cited by former President Donald Trump. The incident occurred on July 12, 2025, and the suspect, identified as Rucker, was taken into custody approximately a week later. He is scheduled to be sentenced on December 14.
The victim, Honesty, was described by her family as a vibrant child who enjoyed activities such as doing flips, earning her the nickname “flip mode” from her aunt, Tonia Cheadle. Honesty frequently spent time at her aunt’s apartment, where several family members, including her grandmother and Larry Cheadle, also reside.
In a statement issued on Thursday, U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro condemned the shooting as “senseless violence” that causes profound pain to families and communities, emphasizing that such acts will not be tolerated.
Honesty’s death has been deeply felt by her family, with Tonia Cheadle expressing the sudden and unexpected nature of their loss. “We weren’t prepared for this,” she said in a previous interview, reflecting the shock and grief that followed the tragedy.
The case has drawn public attention, partly due to the victim’s name being mentioned by a former U.S. president, though the details surrounding that reference were not elaborated upon during the legal proceedings. The upcoming sentencing will determine the legal consequences for Rucker following his guilty plea.
