A 43-year-old man has been remanded in custody following a fatal car crash near Royal Wootton Bassett in Wiltshire. Anthony Howells appeared before Swindon magistrates’ court charged with the murder of Barbara Mullaney, a woman in her seventies who owned a local pet shop.

The incident, described as a head-on collision, resulted in Mullaney’s death at the scene. Howells is also facing charges of dangerous driving in connection with the crash.

He is scheduled to appear at Bristol crown court the following day for further proceedings. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.
