A man was critically wounded early Sunday during a robbery in Chicago’s River North neighborhood, while a separate crash in Jackson Park claimed one life and injured three others, according to authorities.

In the River North incident, police said a 32-year-old man was walking near the 400 block of North La Salle Street at approximately 2:15 a.m. when a white SUV pulled up alongside him. One of the occupants reportedly demanded the man’s belongings before opening fire. The victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in critical condition. No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting, and the investigation remains active.

Earlier that same morning, just after midnight, a fatal head-on collision occurred in the 6300 block of South Richards Drive within the Jackson Park area. Officials reported that a white sedan carrying three individuals crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with a silver sedan driven by a single occupant. The 26-year-old woman who was a passenger in the white sedan died at the scene. The sole driver of the silver sedan was hospitalized at the University of Chicago Medical Center in serious condition.

Two other passengers from the white sedan, both 25-year-old men, were also injured. One was listed in critical condition while the other’s condition was described as fair. Police have not disclosed which individual was driving the white sedan at the time of the crash. Investigators have not released additional details concerning the circumstances leading to the collision.

Both incidents remain under investigation as authorities work to determine further facts.
