Manchester United is offering supporters the opportunity to purchase preserved sections of the Old Trafford pitch for £125 each, the club announced on Wednesday. Known as the “Theatre of Dreams,” Old Trafford has been Manchester United’s home ground since 1910 and has hosted many of the club’s most memorable moments, including their record 13 Premier League title wins.

The announcement follows a major renovation of the pitch, which was completely dug up and stripped back to its foundation in June for the first time in 14 years. The project, overseen by Tony Sinclair and his team of award-winning groundspersons, aimed to improve player welfare and enhance water drainage on the playing surface.

As part of this renovation, the club carefully preserved sections of the original turf, which have since been encased in glass cubes to create commemorative keepsakes for supporters. Manchester United emphasized that the pitch currently has no damage, clarifying that the preserved sections stem exclusively from the recent restoration.

This initiative arrives amid a challenging period for the club both on and off the pitch. United finished third in the Premier League last season but have struggled in the early stages of the current campaign, sitting 12th after securing only one win in their opening five league matches.

Financially, the club also reported its seventh consecutive annual loss. Costs associated with player transfers and the dismissal of former head coach Ruben Amorim contributed to the widening financial deficit this year. Despite these difficulties, the club’s unique offer provides fans a tangible connection to the historic venue as Old Trafford prepares for future seasons.
