Cleethorpes Town has strengthened its defensive options with the signing of Jamie Bramwell, the club announced on Sunday. The 22-year-old defender, who previously played for Stockton Town in the Northern Premier League Premier Division, joins the Owls ahead of the upcoming season.
Bramwell, a Newcastle-born player, brings experience from several clubs including Grimsby Town, Gateshead, and a loan spell at South Shields. Manager Craig Rouse praised the defender’s qualities, highlighting his composure on the ball and physical presence. “He is someone who is comfortable in possession as well as being a dominant defender and his attributes will enhance the styles of play we want to implement,” Rouse said.
In addition to Bramwell’s arrival, Cleethorpes Town has secured the services of both goalkeepers Ollie Battersby and Lloyd Allinson for the forthcoming campaign. The retention of Battersby and Allinson provides continuity and depth in goal, areas the manager identified as key to the team’s development.
The club is preparing to compete in the Northern Premier League Premier Division for the 2026–27 season, aiming to improve on previous performances through tactical adjustments and squad enhancements. Bramwell’s addition is part of a broader strategy by Cleethorpes Town to solidify their defensive line and support a more possession-based approach.
As the new season approaches, Rouse’s focus remains on building a cohesive squad capable of competing at a high level within the league. The integration of players like Bramwell reflects an emphasis on blending experience with versatility to meet the demands of the division.
