Manchester United has revealed plans to build a new stadium with a capacity of 100,000, situated approximately 350 metres from their current home at Old Trafford. The club intends for the new venue to serve as the centerpiece of a larger development known as the Stadium District, which will be designed to host sports, entertainment, and year-round events.

The proposed stadium aims to provide a modern, world-class facility for the club while contributing to the regeneration of the surrounding area in Trafford and Greater Manchester. Collette Roche, CEO of the new stadium development, described the project as a significant milestone in Manchester United's efforts to establish a vibrant new base.

The location of the new stadium places it near landmarks such as the “Corrie cobbles,” referencing the nearby cultural heritage of the area. By positioning the stadium close to their historic site, the club seeks to maintain a strong connection to its roots while expanding its capacity and enhancing fan experience.

Details regarding the timeline for construction and completion have not been disclosed. The initiative reflects growing trends among major football clubs to invest in larger, multifunctional stadiums that serve broader community and entertainment purposes beyond matchdays.
