Manchester United are reportedly pursuing additional midfield reinforcements as they seek to bolster Michael Carrick’s squad ahead of the new season. The club has set its sights on Eduardo Camavinga of Real Madrid and Sander Berge of Fulham as potential targets.

This activity follows two recent significant acquisitions in midfield. United secured Andrey Santos from Chelsea in a £48 million transfer and Youri Tielemans from Aston Villa for £35 million. These signings came in the context of Casemiro’s departure and a long-term injury to Manuel Ugarte, who is sidelined with a knee ligament issue, prompting the club to explore further options to maintain squad depth.

Eduardo Camavinga, 23, who has three years remaining on his contract with Real Madrid, is among the prime candidates. Although the French midfielder reportedly prefers to remain at Real, the Spanish club may consider selling to create space for incoming player Rodri. Camavinga, who was not included in France’s recent World Cup squad, has a release clause set at €1 billion, but Real Madrid is said to be open to evaluating offers in the range of €50 million to €60 million (£42.7 million to £51.2 million).

Meanwhile, United are also monitoring Fulham’s Sander Berge as another midfield option. The Norwegian international has impressed in the Premier League and represents a viable alternative should negotiations with Real Madrid not progress or align with the club’s strategic and financial plans.

These developments reflect Manchester United’s intent to strengthen their midfield options following key departures and injuries, aiming to enhance competitiveness in domestic and European competitions. Club officials have yet to make any formal announcements regarding further signings.
