His Highness Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the UAE Olympic Committee, crowned the champions of the Vice President’s Jiu-Jitsu Cup following a two-day competition held at Shabab Al Ahli Club in Dubai. The tournament attracted wide participation from various clubs and academies across the UAE, showcasing a high level of technical skill and competitive spirit.
The final stage of the event saw intense contests across multiple age divisions. Palms Sports – Team 777 secured the title in the Under-14 category, while Sharjah Self-Defence Sports Club emerged victorious in the Under-16 division. Al Jazira Jiu-Jitsu Club claimed the Under-18 championship, and Baniyas Jiu-Jitsu Club took the top position in the adult category after a series of closely contested matches.
The awards ceremony included attendance by prominent figures such as Mohamed Al Dhaheri, Vice Chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts Federation and Dubai Sports Council, along with representatives from the participating clubs. Al Dhaheri expressed his congratulations to the winning teams and praised the competitive standard displayed by athletes throughout the competition. He also highlighted the role of Shabab Al Ahli Club in successfully organizing an event befitting the championship’s stature.
Al Dhaheri characterized the Vice President’s Jiu-Jitsu Cup as a fixture that balances competitive intensity with developmental objectives, emphasizing that the latest edition revealed both the extensive efforts of clubs and academies and numerous promising young talents poised to advance to higher levels of competition.
Representing Sharjah Self-Defence Sports Club, Ahmed Al Jarwan, chairman of the Under-16 winners, underscored the importance his club places on fostering respect for opponents, referees, and regulations. He attributed their success to collective efforts involving the board, management, coaches, and athletes.
From Baniyas Jiu-Jitsu Club, board member Obaid Al Kaabi noted the team’s focus on retaining their adult division title, which they secured for a second consecutive year. He attributed their victory to consistent preparation and squad depth, describing the result as a reaffirmation of their capacity to compete at the highest levels.
Al Jazira’s jiu-jitsu director, Abdullah Al Qama, expressed pride in his athletes’ accomplishments, highlighting the significance of winning a title of this caliber for the club. Cassiano Cunha, technical director at Palms Sports, also commented on the success of their training programs, affirming their commitment to building on the current achievements.
The Vice President’s Jiu-Jitsu Cup remains a key event on the UAE’s sporting calendar, both for its competitive relevance and its role in nurturing the country’s emerging talent in the sport.
