Kuwait Club secured its first win of the Zain Premier League season by edging past Qadsia 1-0 in a closely contested match at Mohammed Al-Hamad Stadium on Tuesday. The decisive goal came in the final minute from Bahraini forward Mohammed Marhoon, who capitalized on sustained pressure to break the deadlock.

With this victory, defending champions Kuwait Club increased their points tally to four, while Qadsia remained on three following the second round of fixtures. Both teams shared control throughout the match, with Qadsia dictating play in the opening half and creating multiple scoring opportunities but failing to convert. After halftime, Kuwait Club asserted more control and managed to breach Qadsia’s defense late in the game, despite an impressive performance from goalkeeper Hamid Al-Qallaf.

Kuwait Club coach Firas Al-Khatib described the win as a significant achievement, particularly given the strength of the opposition and the team’s earlier 1-1 draw against Al-Arabi in the season opener. “Taking four points against Qadsia and Al-Arabi is excellent,” Al-Khatib said. He emphasized that the victory was the result of disciplined organization, especially in the second half, and expressed optimism about the team’s continued improvement.

Looking ahead, Al-Khatib underscored the importance of the upcoming third-round match against Al-Jahra, who recently secured an impressive win over Al-Arabi. “This season is not easy. Every point is important for the team. Raising our level of concentration is essential as we continue our pursuit of retaining the title,” he remarked. The coach noted that the league’s new two-stage format means that every match is effectively a final, making the accumulation of points critical for maintaining their championship bid.

Kuwait Club will now focus on preparing for the encounter with Al-Jahra, aiming to build on their momentum and secure further positive results in the early stages of the league.
