Marine and Oxford City played out a 1-1 draw on Sunday at Marine’s Crosby ground, marking the third consecutive season in which the clubs have ended their encounter level.

Both teams entered the match on strong runs of form. Early chances fell to Marine's Ben Darby, who twice tested Oxford City goalkeeper Jon Maxted, including a shot that was parried just around the post. However, Oxford City broke the deadlock when Tyrone Marsh supplied a pass to Ellis Brown, who struck a low shot into the net from the left side of the box.

Marine responded immediately after the restart with an audacious attempt from the halfway line by Leigh Whelan, which Maxted managed to tip over the crossbar. In the closing moments of injury time in the first half, Marine equalized, ending Oxford City’s streak of over 400 minutes without conceding an away goal. Arjan Raikhy delivered a cushioned cross across the goalmouth, allowing Ben Darby to head in from close range.

Early in the second half, the match’s intensity escalated when Marine right-back Isaac Abankwah was shown a red card by referee Shaun Taylor following a contentious late tackle. Reduced to ten men, Marine faced sustained pressure from Oxford City. Tyrone Marsh had an opportunity to restore the lead for Oxford as the ball was played across goal, but his sliding effort failed to connect.

Despite being a man down, Marine held firm to secure a draw, with both sides sharing the points in a closely contested match. The result maintains the pattern of draws between the two teams at Crosby in recent seasons.
