Adelaide secured a crucial 32-point victory over Richmond at Princes Park, maintaining their pursuit of a top-eight spot in the AFL Women’s competition. The Crows won 9.8 (62) to 4.6 (30) on Thursday, marking their fourth win of the season. However, they remain aware that additional victories are necessary to clinch a seventh consecutive finals appearance.
Adelaide dominated the contest in numerous statistical categories, including disposals (336 to 219), contested possessions (136 to 113), inside 50s (43 to 23), marks (57 to 41), and handball receives (108 to 52). Despite their control throughout the match, the Crows only significantly extended their lead in the final quarter, scoring a decisive 34 points to secure the victory.
The standout performer was Adelaide’s Ebony Marinoff, who collected 40 disposals—16 of them contested—alongside 13 tackles and six clearances. Marinoff also delivered a highlight moment early in the final term with a long-range running goal from a difficult angle, initiating a sequence of three unanswered Adelaide goals that effectively sealed the outcome.
Supporting Marinoff’s impressive display, Grace Egan contributed 25 touches and a goal, while Chloe Bown added 23 possessions with a major. Sarah Goodwin also played a key role, amassing 30 disposals, including 13 contested possessions, eight clearances, and seven forward entries.
Defensively, Sarah Allan made a critical intervention in the third quarter by blocking a near-certain Richmond goal attempt from forward Caitlin Greiser, resulting in a rushed behind for the Tigers.
For Richmond, a season milestone was achieved as Libby Graham scored her first AFLW goal after 61 games. The defender advanced forward in the opening quarter and converted a 40-meter kick with confidence.
Looking ahead, Adelaide faces a challenging run with their remaining three fixtures against top-tier opponents North Melbourne, Melbourne, and Gold Coast. The Crows will need to secure further victories to reinforce their finals aspirations.
