Scottish actor Martin Compston’s travelogue series on the BBC has come to an end, marking the conclusion of his on-screen journeys with the broadcaster. Compston, known for his role in the acclaimed drama Line of Duty, previously presented two travel shows: Scottish Fling in 2022, which focused on exploring his native Scotland, followed by Norwegian Fling in 2024, a series exploring the similarities between Scotland and Norway.
Although Compston recently featured in another travel program, Living Las Vegas, aired on Channel 4, he has confirmed that he will not be returning to make further travel shows with the BBC. The news emerged earlier this year while he was filming in the United States. Compston revealed that he learned one of his BBC series would not be renewed during a visit to the Grand Canyon, a moment he described with some irony given the dramatic setting.
Compston’s connection to Las Vegas is personal, as he resides there for much of the year with his wife, Tianna Chanel Flynn, and their six-year-old son. Despite living in the U.S., he maintains strong ties to the UK, frequently returning to take part in events such as Soccer Aid, and to film Line of Duty along with other drama projects.
In January of the previous year, Compston teased his interest in continuing travel programming focused on Las Vegas by posting an image on Instagram from the Bellagio Hotel, accompanied by a message hinting at a new travel series with a “twist.” While the BBC has opted not to continue with his travelogue ventures, it remains to be seen whether Channel 4 will develop new projects with Compston in the travel genre.
