With Auston Trusty recently returning from a World Cup break and Liam Scales suspended, O’Neill confirmed that Dane Murray will partner Carter-Vickers in central defense for the upcoming fixture. Murray, who has faced injury setbacks himself over the past two years, is regarded by O’Neill as a player with significant potential.

Addressing the club’s transfer plans, O’Neill indicated that signing another centre-back is not an immediate priority. He highlighted the benefit of having Scales and Trusty fit alongside Carter-Vickers this season, which should bring better balance to the defensive line compared to last year when Trusty was shifted to the right side due to injuries.

Trusty, who was granted extra time off to handle a personal matter, has rejoined training at the club’s Lennoxtown base earlier this week. While physically fit, O’Neill said the player’s readiness for selection would depend on how he feels in the coming days and that he is cautious about rushing him back into action for the upcoming night match.

In addition, Swedish playmaker Benjamin Nygren is expected to be available after recovering from a minor knock. O’Neill reported that Nygren has resumed training without issues and believes the player can quickly regain full fitness.
