Mary Robinson, Ireland’s first female president and a prominent human rights advocate, has launched a new climate initiative called Project Dandelion, which focuses on prioritizing women’s roles in addressing the climate crisis. The organisation debuted a short film titled *We Are Dandelions* at the virtual Unite for Climate Solutions: A Women-Led Summit event held ahead of the upcoming COP28 climate conference.

At 82 years old, Robinson continues to be a leading voice in the global climate dialogue, stressing the importance of inclusive approaches that address the needs of marginalized communities. Through Project Dandelion, she aims to elevate women’s participation in climate action, highlighting their central role in fostering sustainable environmental solutions.

Robinson also chairs The Elders, an international group of distinguished leaders established in 2007 by the late Nelson Mandela to promote peace, justice, human rights, and environmental sustainability. As a member of this group, she has been vocal about humanitarian concerns, including restrictions on aid at the Rafah Crossing, and has consistently called for greater accountability in global responses to crises.

At the recent COP30 conference, Robinson criticized the significant presence of fossil fuel industry lobbyists, advocating for stronger commitments from governments and corporations to reduce emissions. In a 2023 interview, she emphasized the critical responsibility of the United States, given its historic contribution to greenhouse gas emissions, to take more substantial action in combating climate change.

Robinson’s ongoing efforts reflect her longstanding dedication to interlinking human rights and environmental advocacy, underscoring the need for climate policies that are equitable and inclusive across all sectors of society.
