The Maryland Renaissance Festival is marking its 50th anniversary this year, continuing a longstanding tradition of immersive historical entertainment. The event, which transforms a portion of Crownsville, Maryland, into the fictional village of Revel Grove, offers visitors the opportunity to experience the sights, sounds, and tastes of a Renaissance-era village.
The festival runs on select weekends from August 29 through October 25. Operating daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Revel Grove features a diverse range of attractions, including eight performance stages, five taverns, and a sizable jousting arena accommodating up to 3,000 spectators. Visitors can enjoy traditional fare such as giant turkey legs and mead while taking part in activities like costumed role-play and cheering on jousting competitions.
Tickets for the anniversary season will be available for purchase online starting Monday at 10 a.m. Single-day general admission tickets are priced at $31, with discounted rates of $27 for seniors and $17 for children ages 7 to 15. Children six and under receive free entry. The festival also offers a “Villager of Revel Grove” membership for $124, which grants admission on four separate days.
In response to difficulties reported during last year’s online ticket sales, this year’s festival organizer has partnered with a new ticketing provider to streamline the purchasing process and reduce technical issues.
