Maureen “Ree” Hills Liebler, a seasoned human resources professional known for her expertise in internal investigations, passed away suddenly on June 16, 2026, at her home in Reston, Virginia. She was 82.

Born on April 25, 1944, in Hartford, Connecticut, Maureen was the daughter of the late Myron and Mae Hills. She grew up in Bloomfield, Connecticut, and graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1962. She later earned a bachelor’s degree from Bard College in New York. Maureen had been a Reston resident since 1985.

Throughout her career, Maureen accumulated over three decades of experience in human resources, specializing in conducting and managing complex internal investigations across several industries, including defense, technology, and insurance. She held significant roles at companies such as Lockheed Martin, IBM, Satellite Business Systems, and Aetna Life & Casualty.

Her work primarily focused on handling sensitive issues involving employee and management concerns, ethics violations, equal employment opportunity complaints, and allegations of misconduct. Maureen was recognized for her ability to lead investigations with professionalism and discretion, addressing issues at all corporate levels.

In 2010, she developed and implemented an investigation training program at Lockheed Martin to equip both new and current investigators with the skills needed to conduct thorough internal inquiries. Before retiring, she served as the Human Resources Director for Organizational Effectiveness in Lockheed Martin’s Information Systems and Global Solutions division. Later, she established Liebler Consulting, LLC, where she continued to provide expert counsel to Lockheed Martin and other public and private organizations, often collaborating with law firms on sensitive investigations.

Maureen was married to Richard Liebler for 57 years until his death in January 2026. She is survived by her sister Sharon Hills of Santa Barbara, California, as well as her late husband’s siblings—Charles (Carolyn), Frederick, Robert, and Sharon.

Beyond her professional life, Maureen was known for her kindness, patience, and calm demeanor. She enjoyed reading, cooking, music, and traveling with her husband. She also had a fondness for her family and pets.

A funeral service is scheduled for 10 a.m. on August 8, 2026, at Sheehan Hilborn Breen Funeral Home in West Hartford, Connecticut, followed by burial at Mountain View Cemetery in Bloomfield. Memorial contributions may be directed to Feeding America or Humane World for Animals.
