The New England Patriots secured a decisive 45-17 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 5, highlighted by standout performances from quarterback Drake Maye and edge rusher Elijah Ponder.

Maye delivered his best game of the season, passing for 374 yards and four touchdowns while avoiding turnovers. Despite the absence of key receivers A.J. Brown and Mack Hollins due to injuries, Maye efficiently managed the offense, completing 76.5 percent of his passes—a season high—and helping the Patriots average 8.1 yards per play, also a season best. His performance marked a significant rebound after a challenging start to the year.

On defense, Ponder played a pivotal role in disrupting the Raiders’ offense. In the second quarter, he recorded a critical sack on Raiders quarterback Kirk Cousins on a third down, halting a potential field goal attempt and forcing a punt. Ponder then pressured Cousins again just before halftime, causing a fumble that the Raiders recovered. His impact on the edge has been among the most encouraging signs for the Patriots’ defense this season.

The Patriots will look to build off this momentum as they prepare to face the New York Jets in Week 6.
