England white-ball coach Brendon McCullum has called on fast bowler Brydon Carse to focus on making better decisions both on and off the field as he seeks to return to the national team. McCullum emphasized that Carse remains a talented cricketer but must be fully prepared physically and personally to seize future opportunities.

Carse was removed from England’s Test squad last month following a brief arrest on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly outside a bar, where he had been celebrating Durham’s County Championship victory with teammates. Derbyshire Police have also confirmed they are investigating an alleged assault related to the incident, though Carse's involvement has not been established.

Since the incident, Carse has been omitted from England’s squads for the third Test against Pakistan and the subsequent white-ball series against Sri Lanka. McCullum acknowledged Carse’s past contributions to the team, urging the bowler to “get his house in order” in preparation for potential future selection.

“It’s important for Carsey that he gets his house in order. We know he’s an excellent cricketer who has done well when he’s played for England. It’s a good chance for him now to get his house in order and then push for selection for the next opportunity that arises,” McCullum said.

The England coaching staff will continue to monitor Carse’s situation as they finalize their squads for upcoming fixtures.
