Rangers manager Derek McInnes expressed his dissatisfaction with the extended international break as his team prepared to resume Scottish Premiership play against Kilmarnock on Sunday. The break, which stretched to 19 days since Rangers’ last league match against Celtic, interrupted the Light Blues’ momentum following a run of six consecutive wins.

Rangers had clinched four league victories in September, performances that earned McInnes the Premiership manager of the month award. With his squad regrouping ahead of the fixture at Ibrox, McInnes acknowledged the challenges posed by the unusually long pause in domestic competition.

“When you’re searching for that kind of run of form, you want to just keep it going,” McInnes said. He also confirmed that midfielder Cammy Devlin would be sidelined for approximately six weeks after a scan revealed a hamstring injury.

Despite all players returning to the club for training, not everyone was involved in full preparation immediately. The delay has been longer than many international tournaments, according to McInnes, who emphasized his frustration but accepted the break as unavoidable.

Rangers enter the match two points behind league leaders Celtic, who were scheduled to face Motherwell later on Sunday. McInnes and his squad will be looking to maintain their recent form and close the gap at the top of the Premiership table as the season progresses.
