Qatar’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) and the Ministry of Social Development and Family (MSDF) were honored with distinguished awards for their digital government initiatives during a ceremony held in Bahrain. The recognition acknowledges Qatar’s ongoing efforts to enhance digital services and promote accessibility for all citizens, aligning with the country’s Digital Agenda 2030.

MCIT received the Distinguished Project Award in the “Best Comprehensive Government Application” category for its Hukoomi platform, the official government portal for digital services. The latest iteration of Hukoomi is a product of MCIT’s Digital Factory initiative and is designed around the “Life Moments” concept, which organizes services according to key life events and user needs. The platform integrates services from multiple government agencies, allowing users to complete transactions online with features such as Single Sign-On, transaction tracking, advanced search, and a virtual assistant. By consolidating services and streamlining user interactions, Hukoomi aims to simplify government procedures and deliver a more connected and accessible digital experience.

Assistant Undersecretary for Digital Government Affairs at MCIT, Masahel al-Hammadi, noted that Qatar’s recognition in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) awards demonstrates the progress made by government entities in digital services. He emphasized the importance of collaboration in transforming national priorities into practical solutions that enhance service delivery for individuals and businesses, adding that MCIT will continue efforts to integrate services and utilize emerging technologies.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Social Development and Family earned the Distinguished Project Award for “Best Digital Inclusion Initiative” with its Yusr Platform for Persons with Disabilities. The platform serves as a centralized hub for services and information tailored to individuals with disabilities, designed according to international digital accessibility standards to improve usability and service quality.

Maha Hamad al-Attiyah, Assistant Undersecretary for Family Affairs at MSDF, highlighted the award as recognition of ongoing work to advance digital inclusion. She described Yusr as a national model for accessible digital services, facilitating easier and more independent access to essential resources. Al-Attiyah also expressed that the regional accolade would encourage further development of inclusive digital initiatives, foster partnerships, and drive innovation to support Qatar’s goal of building a more inclusive society.

Additionally, the Council of Ministers Secretariat General received the Winning Project Award in the “Best Use of Artificial Intelligence” category for its Smart Legislative Advisor Program, developed jointly with MCIT. This project exemplifies the use of AI to enhance government functions and legislative processes.

These awards collectively underscore Qatar’s commitment to leveraging technology to improve government efficiency, broaden access to digital services, and support societal inclusion.
