Defence Services Deputy Commander-in-Chief and Commander-in-Chief of the Army General Kyaw Swa Lin visited the Military Computer and Technological Institute (MCTI) at Hopong Station on May 25. During the visit, he met with instructors and trainees to review ongoing training programs and improvements at the institute, which is responsible for cultivating technical expertise within the Tatmadaw.
Accompanied by senior military officers, including officials from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief and the Eastern Command, General Kyaw Swa Lin received briefings from the acting commandant of MCTI on recent enhancements in training aids and infrastructure projects. The general emphasized the importance of providing trainees with access to comprehensive learning materials and directed officials to maintain subject-specific books in the institute’s libraries to support continued education.
At Bayintnaung Hall, the general addressed both officers and trainees, highlighting the need for instructors to prepare trainees to surpass their own capabilities. He underlined the responsibility to produce technically skilled members who can be reliably entrusted with advancing the Tatmadaw's operational effectiveness. General Kyaw Swa Lin stressed that continuous learning and adaptation to evolving technologies and military strategies are essential.
The general called for integration of modernized military tactics, advanced weapons systems, and up-to-date technical skills to ensure that Tatmadaw personnel remain effective amid changing defense landscapes. He conveyed that trainees must achieve full qualification in both military science and professional disciplines. Additionally, he urged them to become not only skilled technicians but also loyal citizens dedicated to serving the State and armed forces.
Following the meeting, General Kyaw Swa Lin conducted inspections of the lecture halls, accommodation for engineering trainees, and mess facilities. He reviewed kitchen operations and ration storage, issuing instructions to ensure systematic preparation and distribution of nutritious meals, with particular attention to proper handling and storage of meat, fish, and vegetables.
Accompanied by his wife, Daw Nang Kue Ku, and other officials, the general toured housing units within the regiments and observed seasonal agricultural crops around the station by vehicle. During this visit, he also extended foodstuffs, financial awards, and other assistance to local families, addressing community needs as part of the Tatmadaw’s welfare efforts.
