MedReview, a payment integrity firm serving health insurers, has acquired Vital Data Technology, a provider of advanced healthcare payer workflow and data solutions, in a move aimed at expanding its portfolio of payer services. The acquisition was announced recently, though financial details were not disclosed.
Founded in 1974, MedReview offers a wide range of payment integrity services, including diagnosis-related group (DRG) and clinical reviews, cost outlier audits, readmission reviews, data mining, and itemized bill reviews. These services have collectively helped prevent and recover hundreds of millions of dollars in overpayments annually. The company has historically focused on clinical review services and cost containment within the healthcare sector.
Vital Data Technology, established in 2005, specializes in data science-driven healthcare solutions designed to enhance payer decision-making through predictive analytics. Its artificial intelligence–based platform, Affinitē, supports health plans in improving care management, quality, population health, and risk adjustment by providing real-time, actionable insights.
MedReview’s CEO Spencer Young described the acquisition as a significant step in the company’s long-term strategy, emphasizing that the integration of the two organizations would enhance their ability to deliver greater value to clients. The combined capabilities are expected to leverage MedReview’s clinical expertise alongside Vital Data’s data infrastructure to offer more comprehensive and outcome-focused payer solutions.
Following the acquisition, Vital Data Technology will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of MedReview. Synergy Advisors served as financial advisor while Goodwin provided legal counsel to MedReview. Bailey & Company acted as financial advisor and Sheppard as legal advisor to Vital Data Technology.
