A new season of Celebrity Race Across the World is set to premiere on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on October 28, featuring four pairs of celebrity contestants traveling from south-east Asia to southern Australia without the use of flights. The journey begins in Kuching, Malaysia, and covers approximately 7,500 kilometers through three countries and two continents, concluding in Melbourne.
Participants must navigate the route relying solely on local transportation, limited resources, and the goodwill of strangers, while operating on a strict budget of £26 per person per day. Each team receives only a map to guide them on their way, making resourcefulness and adaptability essential.
The competitors include siblings Princess and Junior Andre, media personalities and children of former glamour model Katie Price and singer Peter Andre; singer-songwriter Ella Eyre and her longtime friend Nana Pepera; singer Sam Ryder paired with his tour manager and close friend Kaz Coles; and veteran sports broadcaster Jeff Stelling and his son Matt.
Reflecting on their experiences, the contestants highlighted the challenges and personal growth the journey entailed. Junior Andre described the experience as a significant test of their sibling relationship given the intensity and close quarters of the race. Princess Andre noted the difficulty in adjusting to the lack of familiar comforts, unfamiliar accommodations, and limited food and rest, calling the challenge "one of the best things" she has ever done.
Ella Eyre emphasized the strength of her partnership with Nana Pepera, with whom she has known for over two decades. She acknowledged the wide array of obstacles they encountered and credited their ability to support each other during difficult moments as a key factor in their resilience.
Kaz Coles, who manages finances on Sam Ryder’s tours, assumed responsibility for budgeting during the race. He described their approach to decision-making as collaborative, relying on available information to choose the most practical options at each juncture.
The new series promises to test the contestants’ endurance, teamwork, and problem-solving skills as they race across vast distances on limited means, offering viewers an engaging and adventurous narrative.
