The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan, 45, is set to co-host and judge on Junior MasterChef Australia, the children’s edition of the popular cooking competition, in 2027. Production is expected to take place at the Melbourne Showgrounds, although exact filming dates have not yet been confirmed. Meghan's involvement marks her return to Australian television following a guest appearance on the adult MasterChef Australia earlier this year.
Meghan first appeared on the adult version of the show in July 2026, during a brief four-day visit to Australia with Prince Harry in April. The network reported that her guest judging drew the program’s largest Sunday audience since 2023. As co-host alongside current MasterChef Australia judge Poh Ling Yeow—who will continue judging the adult series next year—Meghan is expected to work with contestants aged between nine and 13.
In a statement, Meghan expressed enthusiasm about joining the junior competition, citing her enjoyment of cooking with her own children. “I had an incredible time with the whole team at MasterChef this past April, so when they approached me to come back and work with this young group of talent, it was an easy yes,” she said. Poh Ling Yeow also commented positively on the upcoming collaboration, calling it “a real treat” to be reunited with Meghan and to meet the young culinary contestants.
The announcement comes amid recent personal challenges for the Duchess. This week, Meghan publicly disclosed she had been informed in 2019 by the Metropolitan Police of disturbing allegations against her estranged father, Thomas Markle Sr. Authorities in Cebu confirmed that Markle Sr is under investigation for possession of child sexual abuse materials by a taskforce specializing in human trafficking and child sexual exploitation. Meghan expressed distress over the situation and extended her thoughts to any children affected.
Since relocating from California, Meghan and Prince Harry settled in the Cotswolds with their children, Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lilibet, five. There has been speculation about whether Meghan’s new television role will require a temporary move back to Australia. In September, the Sussexes publicly condemned intrusive behavior by photographers near their children’s school, leading to the family moving their children to a different school.
Meghan’s upcoming role on Junior MasterChef Australia follows the conclusion of her Netflix lifestyle show With Love, Meghan, which ran for two seasons. Despite reported global viewership of 5.3 million in the first half of 2025, the series is widely expected not to be renewed for a third season.
