EQUATE Group announced that its subsidiary MEGlobal has become the first ethylene glycol producer in the United States to receive the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) Carbon Footprint Certification (CFC) for monoethylene glycol (MEG) and diethylene glycol (DEG) produced at its Oyster Creek facility in Texas. The certification, awarded on Nov. 1, marks a significant milestone in the company’s environmental, social, and governance (ESG) efforts by providing independently verified product-level carbon footprint data.
MEGlobal Americas Inc.’s certification enables its customers to access credible and audited carbon footprint information specific to the products they purchase, an increasingly important consideration as carbon reporting requirements evolve globally. The Oyster Creek plant, operational since 2019, produces ethylene glycol for a broad range of industrial applications, serving clients worldwide.
“Our ESG strategy is focused on translating our sustainability priorities into meaningful actions across our business and for our customers,” said Naser Al-Dousari, President and CEO of EQUATE Group. He emphasized that achieving the ISCC Carbon Footprint Certification offers customers confidence in using verified carbon data to support their own environmental reporting and procurement decisions.
Julia Cockerham, Program Manager of Carbon Assurance at SCS Global Services—the body responsible for auditing the certification—stated that third-party verification adds a vital layer of credibility to environmental claims. She praised MEGlobal and EQUATE for their leadership in investing in transparent carbon footprint data, which facilitates informed decision-making along the supply chain.
MEGlobal operates one of the world’s most geographically diverse ethylene glycol businesses, with facilities across Canada, the United States, the Netherlands, Mexico, Brazil, China, and Singapore. The company has steadily positioned itself as a responsible manufacturer and supplier of ethylene glycol, a key product used in numerous consumable and industrial goods.
EQUATE Group, founded in 1995 as Kuwait’s first international petrochemical joint venture, has grown into a global producer of petrochemicals including ethylene glycol, polyethylene, and other related products. It ranks as the world’s second-largest ethylene glycol producer, operating industrial complexes in Kuwait, North America, and Europe with an annual production capacity exceeding six million tons of various petrochemical products. The group emphasizes sustainable operations aligned with global efforts to reduce environmental impact.
