Melanie C marked a milestone in her personal life with a wedding celebration in Cumbria that also featured a rare reunion of the Spice Girls. The event, held recently, brought together three of the group’s original five members—Melanie C, Mel B, and Emma Bunton—who performed their 1997 hit "Spice Up Your Life" on stage. Victoria Beckham was absent, remaining in the United States with her husband David Beckham, and Geri Horner left the party early.
Speaking about the reunion, Melanie C described the performance as a spontaneous moment late in the evening, noting that “we did play a little bit of Spice Up Your Life,” with Geri having already retired for the night. The singer, 52, expressed that she had not considered marriage seriously until meeting model Chris Dingwall, reflecting that her career focus had previously outweighed personal relationships. “I wasn’t a girl who grew up dreaming about her dress. I was always just focused on my career – I think even relationships took a back seat for me because I’ve been so driven to do what I love, which is performing,” she said. “I’d got to the point in my life where I didn’t think it was going to be a part of my story.”
The Cumbria event was Melanie C’s second wedding ceremony; she and Dingwall had legally married earlier in his native Australia. While Victoria Beckham was not physically present, she contributed to the celebration by lending one of her dresses to Melanie C. Beckham revealed that Melanie had initially ordered a dress from her line that did not fit in time for the event, so she offered one from her personal wardrobe to wear instead.
The Spice Girls, without Victoria Beckham, most recently toured together in 2019. This reunion at Melanie C’s wedding marked their first joint performance in seven years.
