Football star Leo Messi has commissioned a new luxury yacht currently under construction at a shipyard in the United Arab Emirates. The vessel, an ULITMA 88 catamaran, is being built by Polish manufacturer Sunreef Yachts at their UAE facility and will join Messi’s existing MIM Ocean fleet.
According to the manufacturer, the yacht will be based in the Balearic Islands, reflecting Messi’s preference for the Mediterranean region. The ULITMA 88 is designed to prioritize spaciousness, privacy, and outdoor living, featuring four guest cabins, a full-beam master suite, and an “Ocean Lounge” area. This lounge is notable for its ability to open toward the water, enhancing the connection between the yacht and the sea.
Messi, known for his affinity for spending time on the water with his family, described the project as a way to create a private retreat for off-shore relaxation. “It’s a real pleasure to join the Sunreef family. My family and I have always loved spending time at sea whenever we get the chance,” he said, highlighting the personal importance of life aboard the yacht.
The addition of a yacht constructed in the Gulf region underscores the growing reputation of UAE shipyards in the luxury vessel market. Sunreef Yachts has gained recognition for combining advanced craftsmanship with innovative design tailored to private owners and charter clients worldwide.
The new vessel is expected to further enhance Messi’s luxury fleet, supporting his preference for maritime leisure within the Mediterranean, where he has resided during his professional career. No specific delivery date has been announced for the yacht’s completion.
