The Metropolitan Police have decided not to take further action against Green Party leader Zack Polanski following a complaint related to an image he shared on social media. The complaint was filed by Reform UK leader Nigel Farage after Polanski posted a picture showing a man wearing a black T-shirt featuring a guillotine illustration and the words: “We’re only making plans for Nigel.”

In a statement released on Wednesday, the Metropolitan Police said that pursuing the matter further would be disproportionate and an unreasonable use of police resources after conducting an extensive investigation. The force clarified that no charges would be brought against Polanski.

The Green Party stated that Polanski did not initially notice the offending image within a multi-photo Instagram post containing 20 pictures and that he deleted the image once he became aware of its content.

A spokesperson for Reform UK expressed dissatisfaction with the police decision, alleging unequal treatment under the law. “Once again we see that we are living in two-tier Britain,” the spokesperson said, criticizing the Metropolitan Police for not pursuing charges.

The Metropolitan Police also noted that a potential offense could be associated with the wearing of the T-shirt depicted in the image. Since that alleged incident occurred in Bristol, responsibility for any further investigation has been passed to Avon and Somerset Police, which will determine whether any action should be taken regarding the clothing worn in the photograph.
