Meta Platforms Inc. has seen a significant boost in its stock value following the launch of its new artificial intelligence tool, Muse. Introduced earlier this month, Muse is an autonomous AI agent designed to assist users with a variety of everyday tasks, including booking travel, making restaurant reservations, drafting documents, and managing calendars. The application has quickly gained traction, reaching between 1.8 million and 2.8 million downloads within its first two weeks and topping the Apple App Store’s free charts in the United States briefly. Currently, the tool is available only in the U.S. and Canada.

Muse offers a tiered pricing model, providing limited free use with options for heavier users to subscribe at prices ranging from $20 to $100 per month. User feedback highlights the AI’s capabilities beyond simple conversation, emphasizing its proficiency in task completion.

Meta’s share price has surged by more than 30% in September, marking the company’s strongest monthly performance in years. Since hitting a low in late March—following unfavorable court rulings related to the mental health impact of its social media platforms on young people—Meta’s stock price has risen nearly 50%. These legal setbacks had previously weighed heavily on investor sentiment.

The development of Muse is credited to Alexandr Wang, the 29-year-old founder of Scale AI, whom Meta acquired in June 2025 for $14.3 billion. The acquisition initially drew skepticism due to its size and perceived risk, but the success of Muse has contributed approximately $200 billion in market value to Meta, prompting CEO Mark Zuckerberg to describe the project as an example of “superintelligence” in AI.

Despite the optimistic market response, Meta faces renewed scrutiny with the upcoming release of "The Social Reckoning," a film by Aaron Sorkin scheduled for October 9. The production revisits leaked internal Facebook documents that played a critical role in the earlier court cases centered on the platform’s effects on teenage users’ mental health, potentially bringing fresh challenges to the company’s public image.
