Francisco Lindor powered the New York Mets to a commanding 14-3 victory over the Atlanta Braves on Monday night, driving in six runs with two home runs and a triple. The Mets, who are currently in last place with a 45-62 record, matched a season high with 19 hits in the game, extending their recent success against top-tier teams.

Lindor opened the scoring early, launching an RBI triple off the top of the right-field wall and following with a two-run homer in his first two at-bats against Braves starter Martín Pérez. The Mets’ shortstop capped the night with a towering solo home run off reliever Connor Thomas in the eighth inning, contributing to a five-run frame that put the game out of reach. This performance marked Lindor’s 23rd career multi-homer game and his first since August of last year. It was also the first time he recorded two homers and a triple in the same contest.

Alongside Lindor, several Mets players contributed significantly at the plate. Marcus Semien hit a two-run homer in the sixth inning to break a 3-3 tie, while Tyrone Taylor extended his strong run with a three-run homer in the seventh. Both Taylor and Semien had earlier homers in Sunday’s 8-3 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers. Taylor, Semien, Bo Bichette, and rookie A.J. Ewing each collected three hits as New York scored double-digit runs for the 10th time this season.

Rookie left-hander Zac Thornton, making his fifth major league start, pitched 6 1/3 innings and allowed three runs on six hits, striking out five and walking one to improve his record to 2-1.

For the Braves, Ozzie Albies accounted for all three runs with a solo homer in the fourth inning that temporarily tied the game. Atlanta’s star outfielder Ronald Acuña Jr. returned to action after missing 37 games due to a strained left hamstring, finishing 1 for 4 with two strikeouts. Pérez allowed three runs and eight hits over five innings, while Thomas struggled in relief, giving up 11 runs and 10 hits in 2 2/3 innings. The Braves even resorted to using infielder Jorge Mateo to pitch in the eighth inning.

After beating the Dodgers on Sunday, the Mets have now defeated the two best teams in the National League in consecutive days, despite their low standing in the division.
