A senior officer tasked with upholding professional standards within the Metropolitan Police was convicted of stalking his former partner, a court heard. Timothy Fory, who worked in the Met’s directorate of professional standards, was found guilty of persistently stalking Detective Stephanie Lane between July and September 2024.

During an eight-week period, Fory repeatedly sent unwanted messages and followed Lane at a public event, behavior described in court as “vindictive.” The case was heard at Westminster Magistrates’ Court, where Fory was sentenced to a 12-month community order and was spared imprisonment.

Following the conviction, the Metropolitan Police confirmed that Fory would undergo an accelerated misconduct hearing.
